  • Witherle Holiday Tree Trail

    – TREE DECORATING + HOLIDAY STROLL –

    With the help of Castine Arts Association, the Witherle Woods magically comes to life every holiday season. Down one of the trails, you're invited to decorate an evergreen (or two!) with biodegradable homemade ornaments. As the holiday season progresses, walk the trail to see fellow Castiners' creativity on display!

    Our town baker Erin Schmal is busy at work in her cafe at the back of Compass Rose Books. For the food lover in your life, she's rolled out hand-made rolling pins with the help of Temple Blackwood and fabulous aprons. Plus, she has you covered for holiday baking! She will be taking orders for everything from cinnamon rolls to pies for your table.

    Kick off the holiday season at the Grand Dame on Main Street, as Matt, George, & Mister host the town for an open wine & beer bar, hors d'oeuvres, and plenty of merriment! The only requirement? Bring one unwrapped toy to donate to their Toys-for-Tots drive. Last year, Castine was the single largest donation center in Maine, thanks to your generosity!

    The Castine Arts Association presents one of the most festive town traditions at the Unitarian Church. From instrumentals to vocals, and who can forget the essential reading of The Night Before Christmas, it's an evening for kids young and old to come together as a community to embrace the holidays. And we heard even Santa will be there!
